The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requires all schools to inspect their buildings for ACM to ensure that it is properly maintained and/or abated to protect the children and staff that occupy the building.  While this regulation is mandated for schools, it represents the most comprehensive form of inspection and is often adhered to for asbestos inspections in other types of facilities and buildings.
